The story of "70 Kilo" began as a dream spanning continents, a plan for a meeting between two sides of the world, full of hope and ambition, until friends gathered on the pages of comic books. From there, a journey towards its first major steps in the world of children's literature began.
In 2021, Aalya Publishing House was awarded the International Prize for Arabic Children's Literature (formerly the Etisalat Award for Children's Literature) in the comic book category for "70 Kilo". This award marked Aalya's first official recognition and appearance before the Emirati public.
🌟 A grand ceremony was held under the patronage and presence of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of the Emirate of Sharjah, who presented the award to:
-
Ms. Wi’am Ahmed – CEO of Aalya Publishing House and author of "70 Kilo"
-
Mr. Ali Al Zeini – illustrator of "70 Kilo"
Coinciding with UAE Flag Day, the UAE Board on Books for Young People (UAEBBY) and Aalya organized an interactive storytelling workshop at the Dubai Public Library, where the story transformed into an open creative space, celebrating identity and planting the seeds of imagination in the hearts of young ones.
